Arjuna is Today’s Religious Topic of the Day (01/09/15)

Taken from the Merriam-Webster’s Encyclopedia of World Religions

Here is a dose of daily religion from A to Z.

Today’s religious topic is as follows:

“Arjuna”, One of the five Pandava brothers, heroes of the Indian epic, the MAHABHARATA. Arjuna’s hesitation before a massive battle that would cause him to kill his kinsmen and would also cause unthinkable destruction on the race, became the occasion for his friend and charioteer, the god KRISHNA, to deliver a discourse on duty, or the right course of human action. These verses are collectively known as the BHAGAVAD GITA, one of the most celebrated religious texts of India. Arjuna’s stature as an exemplar of skill, duty, and compassion, as well as a seeker of true knowledge, makes him a central figure in Hindu myth and theology.

As he was arriving, the young Pandava princes, coming out of the city together, ran happily about, playing and batting a ball with a stick.

(Comeback on 1/10/15 and continue to learn about religion. Tomorrow you’ll read and learn more about “Ark”.
