Today’s religious topic is as follows:
“Aranyakas”, (Sanskrit: “Books of the Forest“), a later development of the BRAHMANAS, or expositions of the VEDAS, which were composed in India in about 700 BCE. The Aranyakas are attached only to the RG VEDA and the Yajur Veda. Traditionally the Aranyakas have been distinguished from the Brahmanas through the characterization that they contain information on secret rites t be carried out only by certain persons, especially those who had life recognized in the classical Hindu system of ASHRAMS. While it is true that the Aranyakas are given over to explanations of the symbolic and allegorical meanings of Vedic ritual, this does not markedly separate them either from the earlier Brahmanas or from the UPANISHADS, many of which were composed later.
