Truck driver, police officer pound on doors of burning building in Lynn

Three-alarm fire damages Henry Avenue home

LYNN, Mass. — A three-story wood frame building caught fire in Lynn on Wednesday morning.

The fire at 49 Henry Avenue quickly went to three alarms.

Watch report

The residents of the house were alerted at 7 a.m. when a tow trucker driver and a Lynn police officer spotted the smoke and ran into the house, pounding on doors.

Lynn Fire Chief James McDonald said nine adults and one child got out without injury.

Resident Kesner Pierre said he was in the shower when he “heard banging.” Pierre told his wife and toddler “to wake up and get out.”

The fire chief said the fire likely began on the second floor, though the cause remains under investigation.

Additional fire units were rushed to the scene because of the windy conditions.
