Worcester temperature of 63 ties 1923 record

HARTFORD, Conn. —The National Weather Service says temperatures in Hartford, Conn., Providence, R.I., and Worcester, Mass., have hit record highs for the day.

The Weather Service says Hartford reached 64 degrees on Sunday, breaking the previous record for Dec. 22 of 59 degrees set in 1990.

The temperature in Providence rose to 64 degrees, breaking the old record of 61 degrees on Dec. 22, 1990.

It got up to 63 degrees in Worcester, tying a record for the day that was set in 1923.

Temperatures also hit record highs in other Northeast cities including New York City, Philadelphia, and Atlantic City, N.J. It was 71 degrees in New York on Sunday, topping the previous mark of 63 degrees set in 1998.
