Randolph teen hit, killed by truck
A teenage girl was hit and killed by a tractor-trailer in Randolph Thursday morning.
According to Norfolk County district attorney spokesman David Traub, the incident was reported around 10:10 a.m. at the intersection of Route 28 and Route 139 in the center of town.
The victim, who police identified as 17-year-old Tonnecia Long, of Randolph, suffered fatal injuries when she was hit by the rear wheels of the truck.
Long was a senior at the Russell School in Brockton and was walking home from a convenience store at the time of the incident.
Police said they’re unsure if the truck took a turn too tightly or if Long was distracted as she started to cross the street.
The male driver of the box truck was interviewed by police.
Members of the Randolph Police Department, Massachusetts State Police and district attorney’s office continue to investigate.
