A standoff ensued after the family called police when the man threatened to hurt himself and others, Somerville police said.

Police responded at 8:45 a.m. to a home on George Street and negotiated with the man for several hours. The family was brought out to a car, police said.

The man was eventually brought out of the house on a stretcher and SWAT teams cleared the scene at about 12:30 p.m.

There are no charges against the man at this time, police said.
