Emergency crews are evacuating IKEA in Stoughton after a gas main was struck, a fire dispatcher said.
Officials are evacuating the entire building, including removing vehicles and personnel at 1 Ikea Way, said dispatcher Joe Bardella, the Enterprise reported.
A significant amount of gas was in the building, according to police scanner reports.
Bardella said that a construction crew working on the building may have struck the gas main about 12:08 p.m. Crews responded after receiving an emergency call from IKEA, he said.
“They’re trying to evacuate vehicles and personnel,” he said.
Fire crews from Avon and Stoughton and Stoughton police are responding. Canton is responding to cover the Stoughton station.
