NASHUA, Mass. — Police in Nashua are investigating injuries to a 1-year-old that left the boy in critical condition.

Police said the baby is suffering from a head injury, and they are investigating how the injuries occurred.

Police said they were called at about 10:30 a.m. from the emergency room at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua.

“Patrol officers responded to a local hospital for a report of a 1-year-old baby boy with some injuries,” said Lt. Francis Sullivan.

Police said the boy was taken to the emergency room by one of his parents.

According to police logs, the boy suffered a head injury, and it was serious enough to move him to Elliot Hospital in Manchester.

“The child was subsequently transported to another hospital in Manchester for more intensive care, and the child is in stable but critical condition at this time,” Sullivan said.

According to police logs, the injuries happened at an apartment on 54 Ash St. in Nashua. It was quiet at the building Thursday morning, but neighbors said that the night before, police were swarming over the apartment.

“It was like, three cop cars in the driveway next door, and there was one on the road with the spotlight at the house,” said neighbor Steve Potter.

Potter says that not knowing what was going on has him feeling nervous, and at this point, police are not saying if they have any suspects.

Police did not say which parent took the child to the hospital. They said the case is an open and active investigation.
