Irving’s Toy store has been a part of Brookline’s Coolidge Corner for 74 years. It’s current sole owner Ethel Weiss has now turned 99-years-old. This woman is amazing. She and her husband used o run the store side by side until his death. I have frequented that store many times in my 47 years as a Brookline resident. I could never imagine Irving’s leaving the area. Irving’s is one of the remaining few stores that still remain in Brookline since my childhood. I certainly hope that there is a family member that plans to take over once she is no longer able. Ethel Weiss is definitely one of my all time true idols. Happy Birthday Ethel.
