NATICK, Mass. —A Hyde Park woman worked with her teenage daughter to steal more than $700 from a Natick Mall store last week, the MetroWest Daily News reported.

Amanda Adolphus, 47, was arrested after J.C. Penney security caught her and her 17-year-old daughter stealing about 20 pieces of clothing, valued at nearly $750, on Thursday at 2:40 p.m., according to a Natick Police report filed in Framingham District Court on Monday.

On Thursday, J.C. Penney security told police that they watched two women, Adolphus and her daughter, put clothing from the men’s department in a mesh bag.

The pair then made a small purchase and Adolphus went into the changing room with the items, as well as what appeared to be an empty J.C. Penney and Hollister bag, the report said.

“The suspect (Adolphus) who entered the fitting room was observed concealing items into the Hollister bag and J.C. Penney bag,” the report said.

When she left the changing room, Adolphus handed the bags with the stolen items to her daughter, who brought them to the car, and then returned, authorities allege. The pair then repeated the theft in the juniors department.

After Adolphus again filled empty bags with the stolen items, she handed the bags to her daughter. This time, security stopped the girl on her way to the car. Both she and Adolphus admitted to the theft, the report said.

Adolphus, of 10A Ellard Road, was charged with larceny of property worth more than $250, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Her daughter will be summoned to Framingham Juvenile Court and charged with larceny of property worth more than $250 and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Adolphus was arraigned Friday in Framingham Juvenile Court on the delinquency charge, but the arraignment results are not public. She was released without bail after pleading not guilty in Framingham District Court on Monday.

She is due back in court on Feb. 7 for a pretrial conference.
