Henry Varian fell, landed on back, police say
Police say a 72-year-old man has died after falling from scaffold at a Nantucket work site.
Lt. Jerry Adams tells the Cape Cod Times that Henry Varian was working as a private contractor on a job when he fell from the scaffolding and landed on his back just before 8 a.m. Thursday.
The Nantucket Fire Department responded and took him Nantucket Cottage Hospital.
Adams says Varian was then flown to a Boston hospital where he died later in the day.
The death remains under investigation.
Andrew Sun listed in critical condition
A Harvard University student was listed in critical condition Sunday night after falling from an off-campus building, a university spokesman said.
Andrew Sun, a sophomore at Harvard College, fell from a building that is not on the Harvard campus early Sunday morning, the spokesman said, and suffered extremely serious injuries.
Sun was hospitalized at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he underwent surgery.
“Our thoughts are with Andrew, his family and friends,” spokesman Colin Manning said. “This is a very difficult time for the entire Harvard community.”
