Danvers grant will help improve campus security
Student Philip Chism has pleaded not guilty in the Oct. 22 death of 24-year-old Colleen Ritzer, whose body was found in woods near the school with her throat slit and a note reading, “I hate you all.”
Police have not released a motive.
The grant from the U.S. Department of Education will help provide enhanced security after school and also keep the library open so teachers have a more public place to provide extra help for students.
The grant will also help pay for substitute teachers covering for teachers who are in distress and provide additional mental health services to students, staff and others who are still grieving.
