BROCKTON, Mass. — An unidentified man was found stabbed to death early Friday morning, April 11, on the porch of 56 Green St., Brockton, said Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz in a press release.

The incident occurred shortly before 5 a.m., when a call came in to police that there was an unresponsive man on the porch of the residence, the Enterprise reported.

Emergency responders found the man covered in blood, according to the release.

He had been stabbed several times. The name of the victim is not being released pending identification and notification of his family.

There will be an autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause and manner of death.

Truck spills fluid, crews cleaning up scene

BROCKTON, Mass. — A tractor trailer crash in Brockton has closed down A tractor trailer crash in Brockton has closed down several lanes of Route 24 North near exit 18, according to state police.

State police said the crash closed all northbound travel lanes, and drivers headed to the area should find alternate routes.

State police said the truck did dump fluid on the road, and clean up could take a while.

State police did not have an estimate on when the roadway would reopen.

BROCKTON, Mass. — A Brockton man was arrested for drunk driving after police said he was asleep behind the wheel in the center lane at the intersection of Main Street and Legion Parkway early Monday morning.

The intersection is the same place where a 42-year-old father of three was killed in a car accident Saturday morning, the Enterprise reported.

Joao V. DeAndrade, 53, of 60 Martland Ave., Brockton was charged with drunk driving and failure to stop ior yield.

Police found DenAndrade asleep behind the wheel in a black Mercedes in the center lane on Main Street facing north at 1:57 a.m. Monday.

“His head was resting on his chest,” said Brockton Police Lt. Robert Sergio. “The operator’s foot was on the brake and the vehicle was in drive.”

When officers woke DeAndrade, Sergio said, he seemed confused. Officers asked him to put the car in park and he took his foot off the brake, rolled a couple feet forward before putting it in park.

Police said he failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest.

DeAndrade is expected to be arraigned in Brockton District Court Monday.

BROCKTON, Mass. — There was a fatal car accident on Legion Parkway in Brockton early Saturday morning, police said.

The accident occurred at the intersection of 1 Legion Parkway and 60 Main St. in Brockton at 1:14 a.m, news partner The Enterprise reported.

Further details were not immediately available.

The accident is the second fatal car crash in Brockton in 11 days. Ruben Andrade, 28, was killed when his car struck a tree on Summer Street in Brockton Tuesday March 11.

Jennifer Teixeira was innocent victim

BROCKTON, Mass. — A Brockton man who fatally shot an innocent woman who had just left church has been convicted of second-degree murder.

Frank Webb III was convicted after an eight-day trial Tuesday in Brockton Superior Court of the June 2011 killing of 51-year-old Jennifer Teixeira.

Prosecutors say an argument inside a cellphone store that involved Webb spilled onto the sidewalk. They say Webb opened fire at another man, but struck Teixeira in the back as she left the Mount Moriah Baptist Church where she had just volunteered at a donation drove.

Teixeira was a mother of four and grandmother of 12.

Webb’s lawyer had questioned the reliability of some witness testimony.

Webb received a mandatory sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole after 15 years.

Cause of Summer Street crash under investigation

BROCKTON, Mass. — A man was killed early Friday when his car veered off the road and struck a tree.

Police were called to 306 Summer St. at 12:42 a.m.

A car hit the tree head-on after crossing over the yellow line, police said. The vehicle bounced off the tree, spun around and then ended up in the middle of the road.

The man, who was unconscious when officers arrived, was taken to Brockton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

His name has not been released.

BROCKTON, Mass. — Authorities are investigating after two bodies were found inside the Elmcourt Hotel late Saturday morning.

Officers responded to the hotel at 33 West Elm St. at 11:32 a.m. Saturday, police told news partner The Enterprise.

Police Chief Robert Hayden declined to discuss the deaths and referred any questions to District Attorney Tim Cruz’s office.

A spokeswoman for Cruz said no foul play was suspected.

Hayden said he was among officers who responded to the Elmcourt on Saturday.

“At that point in time there was no determination made as to what was the cause of death,” Hayden said.
