Body found behind Coakley Middle School

NORWOOD, Mass. — A neighbor walking a dog found a body in the woods behind the Coakley Middle School in Norwood Wednesday afternoon.

The victim, who had suffered severe trauma, may have been killed elsewhere and there was likely no connection to the school, Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey said.

State police detectives joined Norwood police officers investigating the death.  The victim was believed to be a man.

Authorities have called crime scene investigators and other experts to the site.

School will be held at the Coakley Middle School Thursday, officials said.


Dana Dourdeville went missing Dec. 31

FALMOUTH, Mass. — The body of a 21-year-old Brown University student who went missing on a duck hunting trip has been found, Fairhaven police said.

Dana Dourdeville, of Marion, has been missing since Dec. 31 when he failed to return from the hunting trip. His kayak was later found about two miles offshore.

His body washed ashore between the Cape Code Canal and Woods Hole in Falmouth and was found by a volunteer search party on Sunday at about 2 p.m., police said. Officials responded to the scene and confirmed that the person was deceased.

Police said there was no evidence of trauma, but an autopsy will be conducted.


Body discovered Sunday morning at MacDonald Park

Medford, Mass. —The body of a 30-year-old female was found on the shoreline of the Mystic River in Medford Sunday morning, Massachusetts State Police confirmed.

The Medford Fire Department said they received a call about the body Sunday morning at MacDonald Park in Medford.

Medford Police said they were working to determine if the identity of the woman matched any missing persons’ reports.

There was no immediate word on a cause of death.
