PLYMOUTH, Mass. —A Facebook page of a person claiming to be a Massachusetts soldier who was killed in Afghanistan has been taken down after dozens of complaints were lodged.
His sister, Lisa Pucino-Haglof, told the Cape Cod Times that someone claiming to be her brother was trying to “friend” people on Facebook. She said his photos and name were also used on a dating site.
Pucino-Haglof said despite dozens of complaints to Facebook, the site had not replied to her request, the newspaper reported.
A message posted on the Facebook page dedicated to the nonprofit group named after Pucino said the fake Pucino page was removed.
Pucino-Haglof had called the ordeal “a betrayal,” and said she just wants her brother to rest in peace.
